Together for Change

Hey there, I’m Drew Howells—a retired military veteran, longtime advocate, and proud resident of Utah House District 39.

My life’s work has been service. First in uniform, and later as a policy advocate focused on issues that directly affect everyday Utahns.

I was part of the team behind Proposition 2, Utah’s medical cannabis initiative, working to build policy rooted in compassion, patient access, and common-sense regulation. That experience taught me how policy is actually made, how compromise works, and how decisions at the Capitol shape real lives far beyond those walls.

My experience as a veteran has also shaped how I see the world. Living with a service-connected disability for nearly two decades has taught me what it means to navigate disability, accessibility, and health challenges while still having to show up every day—working, advocating, and fighting for stability. That lived experience connects me to countless Utahns who battle chronic health issues, financial insecurity, rising costs, and a system that too often feels indifferent to their struggles.

I believe in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility—not as slogans, but as principles that make communities stronger. Our infinite diversity and infinite combinations are our strength, and we should lean into that. Good policy starts at street level: listening to neighbors, understanding lived realities, and translating those experiences into solutions that actually work.

Affordability is at the center of nearly every conversation I have—housing costs and availability, groceries, healthcare, education, wages, and the basic standards of living that feel increasingly out of reach. Too many Utahns feel like no one in elected office is really listening. I am running to change that—to represent people, to represent YOU! Not special interests or well-connected insiders.

If we lean into the better angels of our nature, Utah has everything it needs to build a fairer, more sustainable future. That future doesn’t start someday—it starts tomorrow, which means we need to start building today.

This campaign, and my commitment to House District 39, is about showing up for the everyday Utahn and making government work for the people it’s supposed to serve.

Join us in the journey towards a brighter future for Utah. Together, we stand for empathy, accountability, and the people’s right to affordable living.

In the background, the Wasatch Front mountains rise steeply, their rugged peaks framed by layered clouds. The sky glows with warm orange, gold, and pink tones near the clouds, blending into cooler blues and purples, suggesting sunset or early evening light over the valley.
